i regret buying this laptop

jul 30, 2026 · 2 min read

i bought this laptop 2 years ago and i regret it more every month.

the specs

acer nitro anv15-41:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS (12) @ 4.60 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPU
Memory: 8GB
Display: 1920x1080 16" 165Hz
Disk: 512GB

looks fine on paper right? look again. 8gb of ram. in a “gaming” laptop. with a 165hz screen. who signed off on this.

the 8gb life

every time i try to multitask this thing freezes. browser plus a dev server plus discord and it’s already begging. right now as i write this, memory is at 75% and i’m not even doing anything heavy.

i can’t even work properly on the serveros workspace without lag. my actual job. on my actual machine. swap is carrying my whole career at this point.

the rtx 3050 lie

i bought this when i didn’t know shit about gpus. i saw “rtx 3050” on the sticker and thought that’s it, this is a beast, i’m set for gaming.

it was ass. it’s the budget card of the budget cards. 6gb vram, laptop version, choked further by the 8gb ram next to it. the rtx sticker did all the marketing and none of the work. past me fell for three letters.

the price

i paid 1 lakh npr for this. one whole lakh, around $650. for 8gb of ram in a chassis that screams gamer. i truly got scammed. for that price i could have gotten way better specs, or at least something with 16gb that doesn’t fold the moment i open a second project.

lesson

ram first, everything else second. a pretty gpu means nothing when the machine chokes on browser tabs. check the upgrade slots before buying. and never trust a spec sheet that hides the ram size at the bottom.
